Success Stories—Packing Peanuts   Linda and Pat, candle makers at Kendall Candles. Receiving good usable packing peanuts from companies in northern Minnesota has allowed Kendall Candles of Pequot Lakes to lower shipping costs while still providing a good quality product for its customers. The donating companies receive shipments boxed in packing peanuts but then do not have a need for the peanuts. According to Sally Baumgartner, Kendall Candles owner, the company receives approximately 50 pounds of packing peanuts a month from manufacturers and retail stores in the area. In addition to packing peanuts, Kendall Candles has received boxes and other packing materials through the Materials Exchange program. According to Baumgartner, "Reuse of perfectly good packing materials while saving money just makes sense."
